My Dad's prefered drink is light like a lager, where as mine is ales etc. Can anyone recommend a kit that is similar to a lager in lightness so I can convert him?!

Woodfordes great eastern is pretty light (although I haven't tried it yet I do have one conditioning at the moment). I think muntons do another very light ale too...
I'm sure someone on here will have be able to tell you the best light ale kit around from first hand experience.

Yep I second that recommendation, although mines modified a bit, it's nice light ale for a summers eve, if we get one, definitely just the job to convert lager drinkers :D .

A few of the Coopers kits should fit the bill, try the Pale Ale as recommended above, Coopers Heritage Sparkling Ale, or Coopers Draught which is also very light. All of these benefit from extra hopping.

agree with joel that the Great Eastern is a good kit and with Sparky Paul's recommendation to add hops: did the Gt Eastern last year with some Saaz (traditionally a lager hop) and S23 yeast (mainly to avoid stuck ferment) and it came out well - lots of lager-drinking mates were impressed. think it helped that i had carbonated it like a lager too. Cooper's kits are spot on too - never had a bad one
