Priming sugar from FV

Post by Big Al » Sun May 17, 2009 9:51 am

I am planning on filling my bottles from a spare FV I have.
I want to add priming sugar to the FV and bottle from that, to make sure I have an even distrabution.

Have much priming sugar do I add to the FV? I am doing a 23 litre Coopers Austrailan Lager kit.

Although I don't bottle yet. I'am collecting up the swing top bottles to use, I always use 100 grams for 23L, and I tend to use Demerera, although white cane if that's all I have :D

Cheers for that, I shall give it a go. I'll be using brewing sugar but it should still do that job.
Hopefully get a nice fizzy lager out of it in the end.

Best tip I was told is to fill a 500ml or 330mm plastic coke bottle when you are bottling and you can give it a squeeze while its conditioning to assess how much pressure its building up... take it out of the warm when the bottle gets as hard as you want it. (usually between 1 and 2 weeks). :)

i`d probably use 150g of sugar for priming 23l of lager and have even gone up to 200 but then i do like my lager fizzy. :D
