hydrometer reading

how do i read a hydrometer,Should it be below the black and by how much or above and into the yellow....could someone please show with a pic. mine is reading 1.020 is this ok to keg or bottle or leave for longer has been in primary for 7 days on a milestones lionspride.

1020 sounds high. Do you know what it started at? To get it lower search the forum for "stuck fermention".

i dont believe its stuck fermentation as the temperature is ok and its still bubbling so will try again tomorrow and sat and see what happens
