My first brew since becoming a 'born again' home brewer (a Fixby Gold kit) is ready to be bottled. I am planning to do this by racking to a bottling bucket containing the priming sugar solution.
The FV has a tap fitted, but there is a centimetre or more of yeast at the bottom of the FV.
Unsure whether to siphon it or use the tap, to get as little crud as possible into the bottling bucket.
What do people think? Opinion and advice much welcome, please!
Racking from FV: Siphon or tap?
Re: Racking from FV: Siphon or tap?
I always syphon as much liquid I can without the yeast cake at the bottom into about bucket then transfer from the fresh bucket to either kegs or bottles.

I syphon as well, but only cos I haven;t got a length of tube for my tap to prevent to much air getting into my keg if using the tap. For botteling I use the stick & fill straight from the FV
