Brupack - Brewers Choice kits
Brupack - Brewers Choice kits
Hi, as a beginner, I am keen to get more involved in the brewing process. I understand that the Brupack Brewers Choice (dry)kits will give me the opportunity do this. I was thinking of doing a Best Bitter or Traditional IPA.
Do these kits come with all of the necessary ingredients??? Or do I have to buy the canned Liquid Malt Extract separately??
Any help would be appreciated!!
One last thing, are these kits suitable for a beginner like me? Or should I just stick with the canned kits like Woodforde's for a bit?
Cheers.

They come with every thing you need. Any beginner should be fine using one of these kits

Re: Brupack - Brewers Choice kits
these are the choice of extras you'll need to buy to do one of these kits
"Choice 1; 1kg Sugar (preferably Brewing Sugar) for a light-bodied session beer
Choice 2; 1 kg Spray Malt for more flavour and body
Choice 3; 1.5kg tin Liquid Malt Extract, for the ultimate premium beer."

Re: Brupack - Brewers Choice kits
I was under the impression that these kits would not need any extra fermentable's seeing as they cost nearly as much as their pride of Yorkshire range, my mistake Alex sorry for the wrong infobarl_fire wrote:these are the choice of extras you'll need to buy to do one of these kits

no worries John, I thought you were on about their 2 can Pride of Yorkshire kits instead, must admit though £19 for a Brewers Choice kit is a bit steep, especially if you're going to fork out for a can of malt extract. I remember reading somewhere, on here maybe, that these kits don't tend to fly off the shelves in home brew shops, shame really because they look like a fantastic idea for a relatively inexperienced home brewer like myself who is unlikely to ever go all grain. I'm really looking forward to trying one out myselfcrafty john wrote:

Cheapest on line price I can find is £14.99 then there is the postage costs and then you need spraymalt or extract so it would be rather costly. Let me know how it turns out if you try one cos I wouldn't mind trying one myself.barl_fire wrote:no worries John, I thought you were on about their 2 can Pride of Yorkshire kits instead, must admit though £19 for a Brewers Choice kit is a bit steep, especially if you're going to fork out for a can of malt extract. Re: Brupack - Brewers Choice kits
you can count on it John, in fact I think I'll do one of these before my next Pride of Yorkshire kit, either the Best Bitter or the Traditional IPA I reckon. Probably would have gone for the Old Ale but I've just bottled a Porter, kegged a Stout and about to start a Mild so I think either a pale ale or a good amber bitter is the order of the day for a bit of varietycrafty john wrote: Let me know how it turns out if you try one cos I wouldn't mind trying one myself.

Re: Brupack - Brewers Choice kits
Thanks for both replies here chaps. No apologies necessar John, not at all.crafty john wrote:I was under the impression that these kits would not need any extra fermentable's seeing as they cost nearly as much as their pride of Yorkshire range, my mistake Alex sorry for the wrong infobarl_fire wrote:these are the choice of extras you'll need to buy to do one of these kits

I feel like a right tw@t for posting the wrong info, thanks barl_fire for putting things right.

I assume the Brewer's Choice kits make 40 pints? And I've seen them on sale for around £16 / £17 which is no problem with me, assuming it will be fun to make, a learning curve and hopefully a decent pint too.
That leads me onto the question: How much would 1kg of brewer's sugar / 1kg Spray Malt / 1.5kg Liquid Malt Extract cost me??
barl_fire, have you quite experienced with these Brewer's Choice kits, have you done them before?

1kg spray malt £6.30
1.5kg LME £9.15
Re: Brupack - Brewers Choice kits
£2.40 for brewing sugar that's a bit expensive my LHBS does it for £1.70. I buy mine in 25 kilo bags I think I paid just over £20.00 for my last one, works out at 80p a kilo.Cheshire-cheese wrote:1kg brewers sugar £2.40Alex NG wrote:

Re: Brupack - Brewers Choice kits
Hi Alex, no I've not tried any yet, but I'm really keen to give one a go as they look like a lot of fun to do, and the resulting beer is supposed to be very high quality. I think the Extra Special Bitter with choice three is the one I'll try first, then the IPA with choice two.Alex NG wrote:

just in case you've not seen the sticky thread above I'll post the link, great pictures of these kits being done
