2 can kits - priming sugars

Post by james_m_r » Tue Jan 30, 2007 9:32 pm

let me re-phrase this question - do people generally use ordinary granulated sugars for priming when kit brewing or should this be substituted for something else?

you could use ordinary white sugar, glucose or spraymalt, it's all in small amounts so shouldn't make any difference to what you use to prime your bottles or keg.

what kit are you thinking of doing?

nipped out and got the kit today. Woodfordes wherry. It was the only half decent looking one they had in Wilkos so will be ordering online in future.
Where would you recommend for this? and roughly how much p+p do places charge?

Hop and Grape are widely considered to be good; having a wide range of brewing stuff at reasonable prices. Delivery is about a fiver as long as you don't get crazy amounts of stuff, which I also think is pretty reasonable too. Website:

I'm sure others will suggest other places as well

Thanks for the advice. I will take a look at all the links.
If I am going to be charged £5 or therabouts postage it would pay me to order several kits at a time. How many 3kg or 3.6kg kits would I get away with before the carriage cost went up do you think?

Delivery is £5.95, but free if you order £65 worth in one go. Choice is reasonably good and prices are very competitive - the Woodfordes kits are £15.45, over a quid cheaper than anywhere else. 8)

They also offer members of another brewing forum 5% discount, which makes them even cheaper... makes the Woodfordes less than £14.70

Doh! I should have said 'anywhere else online'...

I rarely get to look in Wilkos, I buy most of my stuff mail order. It's a very good price though that, none of the online shops are anywhere near. 8)
