Hi all

Well my Terrier is now in my Corny Keg. I've pulled a couple of pints from it and am impressed with it. It is golden colour and has a flowery taste but quite dry and bitter. It leaves me salivating after a mouthfull and wanting more. This must be a good thing! The adjustable tap on the keg makes it very easy to pour the perfect pint :D

I've got another kit on the go, it's Muntons Bitter IPA.
Is this any good?
I substituted the 1KG of sugar for 1KG of light spraymalt aswell.

The yeast started off slow and didn't expand in my cup like the terrier yeast did. I pitched it in anyway and after 24hrs I got a good foaming yeast head on top of my wort. It's been going 3 days and is still doing niceley.

Now, do I stir or should I just leave it?

Cheers

Graham

What DaaB said plus no don't stir it :) If she has a nice frothy yeast head it's fine. The more you interfere with the beer the more chance there is of an infection being introduced :(

I asked about stirring as there is brown stuff on top of the foam which I assumed was yeast which hadn't been working.

I suppose i'll leave it then :)

The brown stuff on the top is likely to be dead oxidised yeast and you definately do not want to stir that back into your brew. You can remove the brown flecks with a sterilised spoon or you could just ensure that you rack to a secondary vessel before the yeast head collapses into the beer :)

Make sure you sanitise your skimming 'tool' and try to leave as much of the yeast head intact

Hi all

I thought I'd send a piccy of my Yorkshire Terrier being held by the missus.
She's using her modelling skills!

Dunno if this is the right colour as I was Pi**ed when I tried the brew in York at Newyear!

My kit version tastes very nice and am sure it's very similar to the original.

My Muntons IPA bitter is coming along great in the pressure barrel and will be ready to drink in a week's time hopefully.

Cheers

Graham :)

Looking good :D
I couldn't trust my wife to hold a pint, she'd probably drink it

That's why the pictured glass is only a half pint! My missus is the same.

Cheers

Graham :)
