The right Glucose?

Post by krisleeds » Tue Jun 08, 2010 1:00 pm

Hiya uber n00b here!

Im about to do my first homebrew kit (the Young's one from Wilkos)

Instead of using sugar, ive been told/read that i should use Glucose.

Thing is, ive just got Glucose from Holland and Barrett that contains 0.05% Vitamin C :S

Is this OK to use, or am i going to experience difficulties?

Thanks - and look forward to getting involved here on the Forum :)

I use dextrose (brewing sugar) If I where you though I would use 1 kilo of light spraymalt or 1 kilo of beerkit enhancer which is a mix of spraymalt and dextrose, personaly I only use spraymalt with kits cos you get a nicer beer, I use dextrose for wine, you can buy it in kilo bags for about £1.70 or if you use a lot like me you can get 25 kilo sacks which works out less than £1.00 a kilo.

Hope this helps

Yep, that wilko stuff will be spot on.

I've no idea what vitamin C enhanced glucose will do but I would guess that it would work.

A chemist/pharmacist should be able fix you up with plain glucose.
