Re: readings on woodefords wherry bitter
First of all, are the bubbles in the airlock or visibly rising to the top of the beer ?
Secondly, is this the first reading you have taken ?
If you get a consistent reading over a couple of days then they are ready. Never take a solo reading in isolation as an indicator.
For a Wherry to have fermented to 1005 is unusual, so please excuse the next question.
Have you temperature corrected the reading and how did you take the measurement (as in which scale did you look at) ? What was your starting reading (OG) ?
Sorry to answer questions with questions but to give the best reponse, a little more info would be helpfull.

1010 for a Coop's Lager sounds fine. If it has been stable, then it is good to go.
You should be fine now. I would, however, recommend bottling for lager to give it that extra fizz and balance.

1014 is fine for a Wherry too, if the gravity readings were constant for 2 days, you can be sure it's finished.jack1921 wrote:i got the reading wrong, the actual reading was on the wherry bitter was 1014 not 1005,i was looking at below the 1010 mark, and not above didnt relise till after i barreled the beer,so hope i havent ruined the brew, constant same for 2 days, and the bubbles was in the bucket not the bubbler.
The bubbles you are seeing coming out of the beer are residual CO2 coming out of solution, this occurs for a few days after the end of fermentation. This continuing release of gas is why airlock bubbles are not a reliable indicator that fermentation is finished, always trust your hydrometer.
