Hello!

The wherry kit is excellent and the beer tastes brilliant! It takes an age to clear, at least 4 - 6 weeks plus in the barrell but my first brew was Wherry and I was drinking it when it was cloudy still!

I have just bought another wherry beer kit to start off tonight! :)

Cheers

Matt

Wherry is in the fermenting bin!

My second brew of my new hobby and another wherry! I will try another one soon when I get another barrel! Although I do have a collection of bottles now to use!

Cheers!

Being new to this I am sure a silly question but why do you need a new barrel cant you reuse the one with Wherry or is this just so you can have lots of beer :-)

I think you hit the nail on the head.

That's the joy of bottling, 2L pop bottles are convenient and easily obtained for nothing - you can brew as much as you like.

Welcome new barrel is so you can get another brew on because you have your first one sat in the barrel while it clears plus drinking time of 40 pints . If your not bothered about getting another on until you have drank the other one barrel is fine. But it gets addictive so you will want to make more :)

Do you need to do anything special with your 2L bottles? I'm building up a collection of glass ones but this seems like it could be a cost-effective way of making sure I don't run out at any point...

Just clean em as soon as they're empty then sterilise as you would glass bottles before bottling.

I have a good few 1 litre lucozade bottles that I use when I can't be bothered capping.

One thing to remember is that you'll need a jug to decant the beer into as it'll all need to be poured all at once so you aren't disturbing the sediment every pint you take out of it. Then fill the pints from the jug. I use a plastic Bacardi Breezer jug that I got free from their website a couple of years ago, just for registering with them I think.

Ok I really want to use bottles but pulling 40 together si going to take a few week (sis owns a pub :-) ) so question is can I brew then put into a barrel and then decant for further sitting in to bottles or will this not work?
