I'm forever sampling mine as soon as they are in the Kegs, just a little taster day by day to see how they are progressing. The Summer Lightning has been in the Keg nearly a week now and is starting to come good. The ESB has been in nearly a week as well and that is getting close to ready.
I had a trip out today with SWMBO to a local Farm Shop and came home with 20 different bottles of local ales so that should keep me busy for tonight at least.

There is hardly a day goes by without me having a sample. To be honest I am usually drinking my barrelled beer 10 days from pitching the yeast................the bottles only survive while there is some left in the barrel

am I the only one who drinks up the gravity check samples from fermenter - yeast and all?

ah, as for the bottling - after I bottle 2 crates, the remaining beer gets into small 0.33l bottles just for sampling purposes! try white glass ones - fascinating view how yeast works there and settles down, also good way to check how your batch is carbonating and perfect excuse to sample it! :-)

Ive known people on here drink it from the fermenter....which imo is ok as long as you use a sanitised pint glass..lol

Im guilty of this as well. Im getting better now that i've got the production line approach. Drink 1 barrell while the other clears and also bottle as often as possible.

Nope! Gives me a good idea about how the final beer should turn out, plus it acts as a good laxative

I leave my kegs 3-4 weeks (bottles even more so) before sampling.
