Bottle priming Dark Ale

Post by Morkebla » Sat Apr 02, 2011 12:22 pm

I am getting ready to prime my bottles for my Dark Ale and am wondering do I need to change the quantity of sugar i normally use to prime my Coopers "Lager". I usually go for 8g white sugar per liter, which means 2 sugar cubes in a 500ml bottle. Is that the same for Ale also?

Thanks

1/2 tsp per bottle mate. So im guessing that would be 1 sugar cube if thats what you use!

Thanks. I presume 1/2 tsp will make traditional dark ale. If I up it to 3 or 4g (4g being one tsp) I presume it wont affect the flavour, just how fizzy it is.

Would maybe sweeten it a little bit?

The sugar will ferment out making the brew fractionally stronger, but the main effect will be more Co2 so therefore fizzier.
