Will this screw it up?

Post by 50CAL » Wed Aug 17, 2011 3:38 pm

Right today I made my mexican cerveza kt. I added 500g of brewing sugar along with the tin added water to make it up to 20lr temp around 20c so far so good. Give it a good old stair around then added the yeast.
Its sat on a small table in the dining room temps at 22c so now for the hydromiter test.... 1002??? this is not a typo thats the reading i got so filled it up with fresh water and the hydromiter didnt even sink far enough to give a reading

Right so I know the hydromiter is junk though oh well just wont know what sort of % it is went to tidy up and spotted my bag of brew kit enhancer...you son of a.....&$*@# with this not in the beer will turn out wazz wont it so I added it anyway and give it a real good stair but the yeast is alread in by this time not much I could do about it.

I went out and managed to get a hydromiter from Wilkos came back and tested it and its 1048 but as i added the BKE when it was cool and the yeast already in will it be ok?

Sounds like it will be just fine. Check both hydrometers side by side before you chuck the old one.

I think that as long as your BKE mixed in ok, which it sounds like it did with an OG of 1.048, then you should be ok.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as it's all mixed in, it'll be smooth like gravy baby.
