Brewers Choice Irish Stout

I made this kit with Thomas Coopers Dark Malt Extract and it's been in the barrel for about two weeks now. Just syphoned off a taster and it's very underwhelming. Not much body, not much head, not massively alcoholic (in terms of taste at least). Tastes a little dry, which could be the water, and could be a nice effect if there was a little umph behind it. Looks a bit sorry for itself in the glass.

So does it just need longer in the barrel to mature? I followed the instructions to a T so was hoping for something that would really blow me away. FG was 1.016 if I recall correctly, which is a little high but it didn't seem to want to drop any further.
