Hi All,
First all, apologies if this has been answered somewhere else - I'm not too good on searching in forums and may have missed the answer.
I've just attempted my first brew ever. Following the instructions, I was waiting for the bubbling to stop. 14 days after mixing it all, I've got tired of waiting and borrowed a hydrometer from a friend. I was expecting to find something around 1.14(ish) but instead have got a measurement of 1.01.
Have I completely stuffed it up, or does this just mean it's going to be a heavier/stronger pint?
Many Thanks,
Alec

Re: 1st time brewer
hiya
i have just finished my first beer kit, woodfordes wherry. my hydro reading after the first fermentation said the same and i found out this was good. anywhere between 1.00 and 1.050 is good aparently.
if i'm wrong, please correct me guru's of home brew
my beer was lovely.

couldn't be happier - mine also happens to be a woodforde's wherry
Thanks for the info - I'm off to bottle.

Its all good
Ales tend to finish at a higher SG normally due their use of darker malts that have more of the unfermentable sugars that add taste and body to the pint - but you never can tell (my tarweiber was supposed to finish around 1015 but its sitting in my secondary waiting to be bottled tonight and ended at 1008)
