coopers Australian bitter.

I know this is supposed to be a sort of pseudo lager with an ale yeast but I brewed it as a summer ale in my keg.Turned out excellent.I'm getting it again.Makes me wonder how the other similar kits would turn out ie Canadian blonde and coopers APA.Any one tried this?

What did you make the AB up with?

I've got one on the go at the moment with some hop and yeast additions.

I think that most Coopers kits are a good base for tweaking into various beer styles, with exception of the Stout kits and maybe the IPA, as they are quite tasty and well bittered IMO.

Just made it up with a jar of holland and Barrett malt and 500 gms of a light brown sugar.no hop tweaks or anything of that sort.I short brewed it a bit to about 36 pints.Cleared very quickly nice after a fortnight in the keg.

Try the APA kit, it's a great beer for summer. Very lager-like because it uses a special combi yeast (ale + lager yeast together). Produces a nice dry beer. It's a good one to brew short aswell, I normally brew it to 21 litres which ups the flavour and body (and alcohol!)

You'll find the APA and AB are almost identical beers. My personal pref leans slightly to the AB as there's a bit more going on in the pint but not much. In fact I'm brewing one tonight with some hop additions.
