Quick brew

Post by Logopolis » Sun Jun 24, 2012 8:46 pm

I'm looking for a quick stop gap brew that's drinkable from a week maturing after transfer from the FV. Normally I'd go for a Ditches stout, but I've done a few of them in a row and wouldn't mind a change (sorry Ditch). Anyone got any suggestions?

If I don't get cracking soon I'm going to have to drink some stuff that's far too young.

The Coopers APA is good young. Part of my diet.

Australian Pale Ale

My current APA has gone from 1053 to 1011 in 7 days and is now undergoing dry hop treatment

I'm going to give the APA a shot, just right for summer quaffing.

Thanks

If you brew it with just sugar it is very lager like, use DME and you get a lot of body but its not hoppy enough for my tastes then.
I tend to use crystal malt to get a biscuity flavour and extra hops to add more hop bitterness / flavour.

It makes for a good base for kit adaption.

The two milds (geordies & ritchies 'simply' mild) i've done have tasted fine after just a week in the bottle - great if you want a quick turnaround!
