foam party
foam party
hi all. Got my self 2 cornelius kegs and itching to get my first pint. So 4 days ago filled one with a bright euro Lager, chilled it and gave it 30 psi , rolled it around for ten mins then left it until now. My problem is i get nothing out but foam and its Saturday nite errr. I have connected a Stella tap to it with about a foot of pipe. Is it because i need to buy a flow control thing as even foamy at 2 psi.
Re: foam party
same size that what goes in the john guest quick fit connections and adapted my tap to fit that same size
Re: foam party
I have a lager at about 30 psi and about 4oc connected to the size the fits the keg disconect (what ever that is) which is about a foot, then that goes to a 3/16" tube which is about 3 foot to a dalex tap. This gives a nice pint, I think you need to go to a smaller tube size before the tap. Im sure others will give better advice
Edit: what temps are the kegs at?

Re: foam party
the keg has been at 2 since 8am this morning. Gutted i cant drink it now. Errr. I thought it was because i needed a flow control thing. Will give smaller pipe ago and pray that works but could do with knowing why my fat pipe gives foam and lots of?
Re: foam party
If its only been at 2 since this morning then I dont think the co2 would have had a chance to be absorbed (if it had previously been at a higher temp).

Decreasing the tube diameter to the tap also slows the beer down some and helps to prevent excessive foaming.
Re: foam party
a couple of month on and i think i have finally mastered the cornelius keg foam issue. I put the Lager in bright put the gas upto 18 psi and leave it. Then i surve it at 18 psi through a flow control set a lot lower. It works for me. One happy chappy. Thanks for all advise.
