coopers pils

Post by craigie » Sat Jul 14, 2012 10:56 am

just brought a coopers pils which i believe to have a real Lager yeast. Was wondering if this kit is a good brew with out adding Saaz as not brewed this before?

I made one a while back and it was fine. My first pils so I`ve nothing to compare it with. It already had a strong hop taste and I don`t think any more hops would have made it any better, for me anyway. It all went down quickly enough so it must have been alright.

Well worth doing it to the kit instructions. Though it's not as strong as other kits alcohol wise it is the best lager kit taste wise imho. Works up to 18C but better at cooler temps. Monkeybrew has started a thread entitled Bingo (although I think he's on holiday or something) with a good recipe linked. I'm thinking about swapping 7g of the saaz for hallertau hersbrucker next time.

Ahh a holiday, that would be nice! I've just been a bit busy (work & DIY), but plan to get the Coopers Pilsener (Czech Pils) recipe on the go on Friday night :D

I take it that you have brewed one now, then Cellone?

No I'm jumping the gun a bit as it's only been fermenting a week.

What OG did you get, because I think that the Coopers recipe is a tad optimistic @ 5.2% ABV?
