Milestone Kits

Post by Harlequin » Fri Sep 21, 2012 6:25 pm

Spotted a few of their kits on sale in a local Morrisons last weekend and as they seemed good value (£18) for a 40pint kit, I sneaked a Lions Pride into the trolley while the better half wasn't looking. Brewed the kit on monday morning, everything lokks to be going ok and it smells pretty good!

Anyone have any experience with the kits, good or bad. Thinking of getting another one of the kits this weekend, either the Crusader Belgian style beer or maybe giving the raspberry wheat beer a try.

I brewed the raspberry wheat beer (which is only a 32pt kit btw ;)) a while back. I left it in FV for about 4 or 5 weeks (as just never had time to bottle). Got round to bottling it last Saturday. Had a taste of it on wednesday, after carbonating for only a few days. Was a good carbonation, and a good head. Nice clean crisp taste (although hope it would after all that time in FV :p), and had a great head. Looking forward to these, but waiting a little for the raspberry taste to become a little more subtle (tasted a little too fake, but hopefully will mellow in time)

Where abouts in Morrisons are these? Is it only some Morrisons that have them? Would love to pick a couple up, as save me on delivery cost etc...

It must just be the larger stores that stock the kits, I got mine from the Cheadle branch, Gtr Manchester. I will take note exactly where the home brew display is in the store to help you look.

I have since found another thread on the forum where the Milestone kits are mentioned... all sounds positive :D

The homebrew display was at the end of the crisps and snacks aisle

Purchased the Crusader kit and got it under way yesterday. It looks like they only sell Lions Pride and Crusader kits but I have mailed their head offices to ask if they are planning stocking more of the Milestones kits.

Hi Harlequin, I've done a few of their kits in the past, one called 'Olde home wrecker' and I did one of their IPA kits too. Both came out very tasty... :)

EDIT: In fact my avatar pic is a bottle of Olde Home Wrecker I brewed last year.
