Hi guys,
just finished up my third kit brew, a Woodfordes Wherry.
I made it up as per the instructions and managed to get the wort down to 24 before pitching the yeast.
I now have it in my brew fridge with the STC-1000 sensor taped under a sponge to the side of the fv.
The instructions state a range of 18 - 20 degrees for the fv to be placed in so i have set the sensor for 20 degrees.
Is this ok or should i be looking to increase this to 22 to allow for the heat caused by fermenting?
I understand that there is a possibility of a stcuk fermentation with this kit so i was looking to have it warmer rather than cooler if possible.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Barry

Hi Barry,
I see you never got a response. I would think any of the temperatures you mentioned would be fine. Did you have any trouble with the fermentation? How's it drinking?

Seymour,
i kept it at approx 21 degrees, give or take 1 degree so it sat closer to 20 than 21.
Fermented out fine, kept in fv for 2 weeks.
It has been conditioning in the warm for the last two weeks and made it's way out to the shed at the weekend.
I had a bottle as i moved it and thought it was quite nice, although it still had a homebrew taste to it. I haven't had a wherry in the pub so unsure of 'real' taste to compare against.
done a second right after it, with different results, check out my thread for the second.
still bottled it though!!
Going to have another this weekend
