Dry hopping amounts?

Post by Chris The Fish » Mon May 14, 2007 9:16 pm

Im about ready to keg my export and plan to dry hop it, i was wondering how much do i need to add.

I dont have scales that measure small amounts so would a 'slack handful' do? or more like a mug full?

any pointers are greatly received.

Based on personal experience, I'd say about 1g per litre of beer will give you a very subtle aroma. Probably about 5g per litre is the level for a real hop head's beer. This based on leaving it in the secondary for a week to 10 days.

just under 1/2 a pint glass full would be a good starting point ( 15g ish)

cheers guys, i should have added that its a 40pint kit.

I was thinking along the lines of a bag slightly larger than a cricket ball, so 1/2 a pint is about what i wanted to hear.

may just wang a few extra in, not a hop head but like a good hop all the same!
