I'm putting either a Milestone Shine On or a Wilko real ale on tonight/tomorrow and have some Amarillo actual hops and some Chinook hop pellets.
The last brew I did involved a load of hops in a muslin bag being soaked in hot water for 20 mins and the resultant hop tea (have I got that right?) being poured in along with the bag of hops from the off.
Should I do this again with the Amarillo?
Or if I wait to dry hop at the end could/should I soak them again in the same way the pour the hop tea in?
From what I've got to work with - Wilko Real Ale, Milestone Shine on! Amarillo hops and chinook hop pellets - what would you lot do?
Hop tea at the same time as dry hop?
Re: Hop tea at the same time as dry hop?
Add the hop tea before you pitch the yeast.
Add the dry hops once the main ferment has died down (after 5-7 days usually)

Re: Hop tea at the same time as dry hop?
Thanks lads - I'll try that WA once I've built up stocks but just want to use what I've got for now.
I reckon I've got about 60g of Amarillo - would you simply go half for the hop tea and half to dry hop or otherwise?
Should I chuck the Chinook in too, or some of it?
Can you do a hop tea with pellets?

SK,
How much Amarillo and Chinook have you got?
Take a look on Forum, scroll down to Hops, ask the question on there, They know their Hops more than I do!
They will answer your question, even though they are a bunch of HopHeads, they like to help! (And they are nice people too)!

For cleaning I purely use boiling water and soda crystals.

Personally I clean with hot water and normal washing up liquid then rinse out very thoroughly before sterilising. I know washing up liquid is frowned upon because any inclusion of it in your finished brew will kibosh your head but I have not experienced that problem as I thoroughly rinse.
