Ok here is what I fancy having a go at.
Some time ago I made a way to Amarillo extract kit and it was delicious but I don't have a boiler at the moment so that got me thinking is there a way of making this using a basic kit from wilkos and loading it with Amarillo hops and ferment with safe ale US05.
I know it's quite a strong brew and requires 3kg of fermentables so maybe a lager kit with 2kg BKE and 50g Amarillo hops steeped.
What do you think?

Re: Way to Amarillo kit adaptation
Hi
I assume that the extract recipe called for 3kg of DME?
What was the IBU of the extract recipe, because a lager kit will come with quite a low bitterness and this will be even less with 2kg of BKE added to the mix?
Cheers

Re: Way to Amarillo kit adaptation
Hi MB
The recipe for the Way to Amarillo extract brew that Dave is talking about is there (link), I believe it ends up around 35 EBU
My suggestion would be a tweak of either of the Woodfordes Sundew or Wilko Golden Ale two can kits, brewed short and with light DME added to make up the OG and then with a short Amarillo boil to make up the EBU and an Amarillo steep and dry-hop for flavour aroma ... but you're probably better placed with experience of those kits to advise how short to brew to, how much DME to add and how much Amarillo to boil and for how long to get those OG and EBU numbers
Cheers, PhilB
