Has anyone used finnings. I was thinking of doing this for a few days before I keg up.
Cheers John

Bantaman:
I've never bothered. Beer comes out perfectly clear. By all means give it a shot, but my philosophy is 'if it ain't broke...'
Intrigued by your username. Another long suffering City fan or an aficionado of Wales' Cock Ale?

Read what was in the finnings. I will give it a miss. I moved my first beer into another FV to settle for a couple of weeks before I finally keg up, had a look today and seems to be clearing well enough.

There are at least 3 sorts. What put you off?
I've never wanted or needed finings (1 n please) with cider or ale, but few of my wines have refused to clear without.

It has crab and shrimp shell obviously pulverised as it's liquid but I googled, Sodium Metabisulphite, and the reason I like brewing my own beer was so as not to pump my body full of this crap.
Some reviews say it works but like Bradfordian said if it aint broke. I'll pass them on to a wine brewer I think Sulphites are in wine.

Sorry about the n. I have Diplopla so spelling is a hit or miss most of the time.

The glasses work now and then mostly then.

Wilco online. They have spelt it with 2 n's. Had to check with glasses on and off. I just copied them.

I still have the eye condition though.

If your not sure on sulphites why do so many use - campden tablets these are sulphites full stop.
I am just about to fine a brew using Wilkos Finnings with no worries. I have complained bitterly to a cider manufacturer about the S02 loading in their premium brand it was bloody terrible. One sachet of finnings in 23 litres is not going to be significant believe me.

Liked the read what's in them bit. I'm no expert but the kit and extract brews I've done have never needed finings.
