Woodforde wherry kit
Woodforde wherry kit
Morning all, just hoping that you may be able to put my mind at rest re:this kit that the started last Thursday. I followed the instructions as per the box, had a sneaky look on the FV last night to see how it's getting on. It's still bubbling through thd airlock albeit a lot less aggressively as uou would expect after 4-5 days. My issue is that the beer remains extremely murky. To put into context, I've been an infrequent all-grainier for the last four years, this is my first kit for many years, with my AGs by this stage thd product is a lot clearer. Do you know if this is to be expected or is there likeky to be a problem? Thanks in advance for any help or pointers, forgive me I'm a born worrier and don't want to waste 1hr+ bottling it if it's never going to be decent! Ta Matt
Re: Woodforde wherry kit
You normaly find with kits that the beer starts to clear in bottles and alot of the time my brews come out of the fv clear
my advice would be to leave it alone for about 3 week and you will be suprised when you bottle it

In my opinion if it's Wherry it's never going to be decent anyway.YorkshireTiger wrote:Morning all, just hoping that you may be able to put my mind at rest re:this kit that the started last Thursday. Fortunately for you I seem to be in a minority of one

Another member of the Yorkshire Mafia here to help a fellow Tyke!
Some think Wherry is ace, some think not. I thought it was ok, but it took a really long time to condition to a decent quality (my experience was 3 months!). I've found better Amber session ales that nature quicker tbh!
That's not to say Wherry is naff - it will be better that most 1 can kits!
As for clarity, don't compare it to AG brews, or other kits for that matter. I don't worry about it being cloudy when bottling - it all settles in the end if you leave it long enough. Can't comment on kegging as don't do it (bar mini kegs). Just wait until it's finished and you have options to transfer to a secondary vessel for more yeast to drop out for, say, a week. You could cold crash it too, that helps.
I don't do any of these things as I can't be arsed! I just wait for it to settle a bit longer in the FV, then settle in the bottle. Funny isn't it how patience seems to fix most things with brewing?
