Hi,
I'm getting back into brewing again and I've bought a Muntons Premium Pilsner kit. The set comes with a pack of spraymalt which in the past I haven't used.
The kits I used to use didn't require any sugar/malt adding during the initial mix and only required a little sugar adding to the bottles at the bottling phase. My question is, when do I use the spraymalt and when do I use sugar? Which at the initial mix and which at bottling?
Not sure if it complicates or simplifies matters the instructions state I need to use 1kg sugar in the initial mix, but the set only came with 500g of spraymalt. Is 500g enough for the initial mix?
Thanks for your help.
Dave
When to use Spraymalt
Re: When to use Spraymalt
A lot of peeps use 500g DME (spraymalt) and 500g brewing sugar instead of just 1kg of sugar. It is mixed in at the beginning with the extract and water. The DME adds a little flavour and a bit of mouth feel.
