wilko's Mexican Cerveza

Post by jimpy0 » Thu Nov 27, 2014 6:00 pm

Grabbed a can of this in my local as rarer than hens teeth usually, as read good things about it tho usually when faffed with. eg. brewed short,1/2 light spraymalt/sugar ----- had some with bottled from B+M with tequila and lime, very tasty.

KK will get to the point, do i have to use ready real tequila, alcotec tequila, or can i just use the still spirits flavouring as i have a 3x750ml bottle from my alcotec kit. if the latter what sort of quantity, same question for the lime [yes i know i need to boil it to remove preservatives etc] or do i wing it to taste - TIA .....................

Hi
I asked similar question earlier in the year, didn't get much response however I heard sodastream concentrate can work well - for the lime obviously lol

Cheers - its sat in the Fv on lowest temp, 500g spraymalt, 400g granulated, 100g demerera, going for a slow ferment hopefully for max flavour.
If i get no joy on the reply front will split on 2nd ferment and try different options - then keep the knowledge to myself  haha

I was considering doctoring my Wilko Mexican Cerveza with lime and tequila. The advice was to brew it and add lime / tequila in the glass when you drink it. That way if it's foul or you add too much, you only waste one bottle and not the whole batch.

If you do experiment, please don't keep the results to yourself. We are a collaborative bunch and your findings might just help someone else wanting to do the same thing.

I WILL share no worries, i did put a wink and a HaHa.
Well i said about a slow ferment, Fv bulged but not enough pressure for the telltale bloop. Temp up by 2 degrees last night. Lid off this morn, it is working, gave it a damn good stir and scraped the scum back into it and its now blooping.
Got some 500ml bottles to play with, the rest can go au-naturel into the keg as a base test.

The BLOOP may not be necessary but it is a comforting sound ..........................
