Post by WalesAles » Sat Aug 20, 2016 8:02 pm

Awesome day today!
Down the Castell Mynach Pub in Llantrisant for a bit of nosh and beer! :D
Abbott Ale to start, BLM! Rosies pig for Dessert and some food stuff in between.
Was thinking of 5 and drive but MrsAles was giving me the look. #-o
20% off Food and Drinks `cos we`re both in the AA (the Car thing).
Anyway, Home to Brew! :D

Coopers English Bitter to 20Lts.
1 can kit
1Kg Med Spraymalt
50.4gr EKG (mt the bag)
SG @ 22deg 1046
Dry Hop with something after 11 days.

I haven`t posted on here since my Vanilla Stout in June.
I`ve been secretly (don`t tell anyone) formulating the `Best Ever Wilko Pilsner`! #-o
1st Brew Split Brew dry hopped 10Lts Amarillo and Apollo, 10Lts Simcoe and Mosaic.
2nd Brew 20Lts Simcoe and Amarillo.
All three are BLM! :D
Pics and details to follow when they are ready.

Hi Wales

Have passed that pub a few times and always wondered if it was any good!

I have an English Bitter kit in stock (its passed its use by date now by about a month or so). I have an Inkbird ITC 308s coming next week and I want to use that for an extract vanilla porter for xmas so that will probably go on first..but.. my plan for the bitter was:

1 kit can
1kg BKE
a jar of golden syrup
and some hops: I have fuggles and was going to get some EKG, and do 25g of each boiled for 15mins in 2l of water followed by a further 25g of each dry hop.

This was a recipe I saw on another forum giving abv of about 6.5 or so. My only worry is adding extra bitterness as the kit is apparently quite bitter as it is? What do you think?

Hen,
It is a good pub, new owners Vintage Inns, much better than Brewers Fayre that used to have it.
As to the bitterness of the kit, yeah, be careful, mine was a bit sharp from the FV.

Bottled this today.
Dry Hop last Wednesday with 45gr Chinook Pellets. Hops out yesterday.
60gr Batch prime plain sugar.
Great taste from the FV, even better taste after priming! :D
