I tend to brew from kits,,,whats the difference apart from price between brewing sugar and standard granulated sugar, surely it all creates alcohol the same way,,,,i also us extra malt sometimes instead of the sugar,,,,,thanks all

Beer is my drug of choice.
I don't need anger management classes, I need people to stop pissing me off.

Just make sure if you do use ‘household’ sugar that its cane not beet sugar. Beet gives off flavours iirc.

If you're using it to "pad out" a kit and boost ABV (or the instructions say "add xkg") then you won't notice a blind but if difference between table and brewing sugar. That article is interesting but over-complicates the subject far more than strictly necessary.

Even the Belgians often just use white cane sugar when brewing dubels, triples, etc.

Buy whichever hurts your wallet less is my advice.

I don't really use sugar much in beers, but I'm betting that for a lot of ales you would be better off buying a kilo of some nice brown sugar than so called brewing sugar (and it would probably be cheaper).

Just don't use dark brown for priming, it's brown from molasses and the taste doesn't clear like if you put it in the boil stage. Want to ask how I know???

Although a bit of dark muscovado primes an imerial stout nicely!

I don't use brewing sugar. Couldn't taste the difference. I can with cane vs beet.
There are much easier & more important things that improve your beer.

Thumbs down from me.
