Thanks for the insight. I am continually learning on here - fantastic!

Well I've just kegged a Coopers IPA made with 1kg of light spraymalt and the fg was down to 1006. Fastest ferment I ever had too.My first Coopers kit and I guess I'll be sticking with them in the future.

I am only on my second Coopers kit and so far am amzed, Muntons? never again, not in the near future anyway.

My IPA hit 1006 before kegging, and my Bitter is currently at its third day at 1008 (no time to keg!)
Both done with Spraymalt.

Gotta love that Coppers quality! Stout next, then a Wheatbeer.

Just listen to you guys! And Coopers haven't even thought to offer me a T Shirt after I've single handedly sparked them a little revolution!

I'd drop them a line myself, suggest they check out a few of 'their' threads here. Look back a month or three. But I'm not that kind of guy 8)

Relax. I'm actually sat here, PMSL. But guess what's going on in Ditch's kitchen!

Farmhouse ted: My Coopers stout dropped to 1.007 in 6days @ 20Deg C (with 500g Dark malt + 500g glucose + 100g sugar).
Lovely stuff.

Tadbrewer: I just carefully siphoned it into another FV (with a tap) dropped the temp from 20 down to 5c in my shed cellar overnight then added isinglass finings, moved to the warmer (18degc) part of my shed (the bar area :) ) and fined on a rising temp for the recommended 3 days. It seems to work better than just leaving it in the cold for 3days!

I've seen a lot of posts and things about avoiding Oxygen but that don't scare me lol. I've had no bad experiances yet and the brews taste (to me) a lot less yeasty and clear much faster. I dont have much space to ferment so I need to turn around my brews fast. Also after only 3 batches bottled i had enough, I am finding it so much better to fin and keg. a lot faster from FV to glass and lots less work and time. I still have to bottle about 5 or 6 from each batch but that's no problem. A few bottles are ideal to take away.

all the best

I wouldn't get too hung up on dropping to such low SG's. There is a trade-off in finishing around the 1.014 range to the 1.006 range, you'll get a higher alcohol content beer but it will be 'thinner' than one that stopped at a higher SG. Do you want a good tasting beer or just something that will get you drunk? :)

I found that :?

My Coopers Real Ale got down to 1.006 but does taste really thin. Could I add anything next time to give it more body?

Ditch.....I'd say Coopers owe you big time!

The lady who runs my local(ish) HBS told me that Coopers gave her an all expenses paid trip to Australia to see their factory - and you've probably done more for their sales than she has!

I think we should start a campaign - if everyone here emails the Coopers marketing department, we could have you there by the New Year.

Here's the email address: pburge@coopers.com.au

I've already started the ball rolling:

"Dear Mr. Burge,

I don't know if you have such a thing as a "Home Brew Hero" award....but if you don't, you should consider starting it. The prize should of course be a trip to your brewery!

I'd like to nominate a fella called Ditch who has single handedly done more to promote Coopers Home Brew kits than the entire UK & Ireland Home Brew industry.

Not only has Ditch selflessly and shamelessly introduced many people to the glory of Home Brewing via Coopers kits (especially the Stout), but he has personally been responsible for the increase in sales of your products in Ireland - mainly by buying, brewing and drinking the Stout kits on an almost industrial scale. I'm not kidding here.

To get an appreciation for Ditch's work as an Ambassador of Coopers, I suggest you log on to the forums at http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk (one of the world's best home brewing Internet resources) and check out a selection of his postings.

Hoping to hear from you soon."

Ditch, I just tried my first sneaky peak at my Coopers Stout this MORNING! Drew about 1/4 pint off the keg which came fizzing out creating a nice head. Its only been kegged 6 days and is still in the warm kitchen, next to the range! It was bloody marvellous so I can't wait to see what its like after its had a bit of a cool spell in the shed. Moving it out there on Sunday and I promise to wait at least to Christmas Day for the next sample. :^o

I will certainly follow up on the "send Ditch to Oz" campaign by E-mailing Coopers at pburge@coopers.com.au

Thanks Parva, my first taste this morning confirms what you are saying. There was certainly nothing "thin" about my FG1013 Coopers Stout and it tasted great. Once again a JBK member comes up with the answers!

I have joined the call to get Ditch to Oz!!

Dear Mr Burge

I would like to add my support to others who may be mailing you regarding an Irish gent called "Ditch" who has been singlehandedly converting scores (if not hundreds or thousands) of UK and Irish home brewers to the delights of your kits. You really need to acknowledge his efforts and I urge you to take a look at the posts in the forums of http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk over the last few months. He is without doubt your best unpaid marketing executive.

I for one have almost completed my first attempt at your Stout and on a sneaky first taste it looks like being a great brew!

Thanks to Coopers and more importantly, thanks to Ditch who gave me the inspiration to choose your kit from amongst the myriad available.

Kind regards, keep up the good work.

I`ve knocked out 3 of the IPA kits this year and they`ve all been bloody good. I used to think I`d done something wrong if they never got below 1010 but you learn from experience, checking my notes my favourite was bottled at 1014 so theres no big panic about stuck ferments and just remember to take a small pinch of salt the advertised/recommended OG and FG`s some manufacturers like to claim.
I hope you send us a pic from the canning factory in Aus Ditch once you get there and send us a pic of you and Frank who has never failed to answer my emails regarding their kits. :D
