got all my gaymers when the've been on offer at netto think they drop em to 79p and 69p every now and then, not bad for a pint of cider and a bottle

My brother in law just gave me a load of brakspear bottles so after reading this post I went and got one to see if I could cap it, it's a bit fiddly but I managed it. My favorite are Magners bottles.Garth wrote:Personally I only keep brown bottles, it's just not worth keeping any others, I must have a good 400 kicking around at mine and at otherpeoples houses 'in circulation'. I used to use a huge collection of Newky Brown bottles but ditched the lot as they're clear and got me money back before they stopped making them returnable.
The thicker the glass the better really, try to avoid thin walled glass bottles like Bud etc, and if you're using a two handed capper, avoid bottles from Batemans, Wychwood, Duchy Originals, Brakspear and any others which have an odd neck on them, unless you have a bench capper, then you can cap just about any bottle.
They do My father in law works at a bottle factorytrucker5774 wrote:This is going to be contrary to every other post so farI use 2 litre PET bottles and as many smaller ones as I come across. I have about 200 litres in bottles at the moment, all kept in the dark.
The brown capped bottles would be a nice touch but, as all those who only use barrells say, "I can't be arsed with the hassle"
I don't have any beer quality problems and they seem to keep well..................bottles don'n come any cheaper
This is a GREAT Method. I agree that brown is probably prefered, but a few clear are also useful.redskinweasel wrote: I'll probably use a couple of clear ones each batch to see how the beer's clearing.
