Dont you think you should shoul support your homebrew shops than wilkos because in the future it looks like we will never be able to get hold of anything or get any good advice, at the moment with creativewinemaking doing the woodfordes at £14.99 why pester wilkos and not go to them.

Why say support your local shop and then post a link to an online supplier? Doesn't make sense.

I didnt start the 1st link although i do use creative for my woodfordes ect, i buy everything else from my local supplier

Heh been there m8 i used to landscape blockpaving,fencing,footings,concreteing etc. Hard bloody work for peanuts.

There's the rub. My local is 15 miles away whereas there's a large Wilkos store with a full homebrew range only a couple of miles away.

The reality is most of us look to pay the minimum for homebrew supplies including equipment and probably use on line suppliers along with a visit to our nearest homebrew shop, if we have one, and Wilkos in equal measure.

Well each to there own but i thought wilkos was a hardware shop and not a homebrew shop, you really need to use your lhbs or your online shop for your kits and not only something you cant get from wilkos its no good cherry picking you need to give the smaller companies some support.

I went to wilkos to buy my wherry kit simple fact is it was £14.99 my lhbs sells them for £18.99 it's a no brainer. However i just spent over £100 with my lhbs for equipment. Now i personaly don't see the harm in that.

Well thats not a bad thing but do you agree we have to get behind our local homebrew shops, the people who just support wilkos have to go and get their co2 from a homebrew retailer wot if they shut down.

Maybe our lhbs should start to support us then and supply the kits at the same price as wilko's! i'm sure most people go to the nearest place to thier house to buy kits or online if there isnt one nearby. I would gladly support my lhbs if they sold the kits at the same price as wilko's, by doing this maybe they could sell more kits and offset the difference. Buisness is Buisness and Money is Money. ps. i have also spent the best part of £200 with HBS for corny kegs, faucets, fermenters etc,etc so i do support HBS (could have got some of this from Wilko's) Wilko's, as stated on another thread, unfortunatly have better buying power for cheaper prices than HBS but we are not going to put HBS out of buisness by getting them to stock a better range or vary the range they have on woodfordes kits.

Sounds like you have a local HBS on your doorstep. Others are not so fortunate and when you factor in transport and petrol costs it makes visits to the nearest HBS a bit more difficult.

I know what you are saying here, I'm in the same boat. My nearest HBS closed, and it's now a gallon of petrol plus city centre parking charges if I want to visit the nearest HBS. That's more than most mail order suppliers charge for shipping, and the reason why most of my homebrew purchases are now online, from specialist homebrew suppliers.

I can see that Wilkos is handy, but the product ranges is very limited, advice is non-existant, and prices can often be cheaper online.

Bear in mind that most online homebrew suppliers offer a free shipping option if you order a certain amount, and using a little forward planning, I have never found it difficult to make up an order large enough to qualify for free shipping.
