Thanks for your replys everyone. It sounds like the cheap kits are rubbish. If I'm going to spend £9 on a kit, and a fiver on spray malt, i may as well just buy a decent kit in the first place.
I've had my Wherry in the keg for 3weeks now, so another week till it's time to start drinking. How long have I got until the beer will start to go downhill?

More time than it'll take to drink it.
If it's kept right the last one will be the best.

I'm having a bit of a party on the 10th-11th March. Supposing I still had 20pints left by then, would it still be ok to drink?

I seriously doubt that you'll have any left by then

, but if you do it should be fine to drink

I'd get brewing if I were you.

If you manage to have that much beer left over in a month and a bit then it will be fine (assuming that it is stored properly)

Indeed...
...stock levels do tend to diminish far quicker than anticipated...

Please define "stored properly".

Your container (bottle or keg) needs to be well cleaned and sanitized and be air tight.
If it is sanitized then you can get infections. If it isn't airtight (besides leaking C02) you risk oxidization.

And if you can keep the storage temperature around 10-13C all the better.

I think you mean 'isn't sanitized'

OK, tried the first pint of my Wherry during the England match today. It's been in the primary for a week, then the keg for 3weeks. It's still pretty cloudy (compared to pub ale). And there was some sediment at the bottom of the glass, which I suspect to be dead yeast. What have I done wrong?

Stu, I assume that you have a bottom tap barrel. The first couple of pints that you serve will kick up some of the sediment that has settled at the bottom. This will result in your first pints having excess amount of sediment in it.
Hopefully after 2 or 3 you should start seeing some great pints being serverd.
