I made up the Hoppy Copper I got from the Wilko's sale yesterday evening, to about 20L with 1kg light DME and 250g cane sugar, OG 1042 @ 20°C.

Didn't add any hops but as others have said this is a bit bland, I'm thinking of dry hopping with a hefty dose of Amarillo, maybe as much as 40g. Does that sound like a good idea?

Widders,
You are in the ELC! If I say `Put in 50Gr of Hops`, you will do it! :D :D
And you will have 50Gr left for your next Brew!

Now I've melted my beer lolly I have bottled it. It is a Hoppy Copper made with 1 Kg of BKE and 68g of Fuggles (10 minute boil). It smells great and the "accidental" taster while bottling was very encouraging.

Happy brewing,

Ian.

I'm worried. 50g would be a *lot* of Amarillo...

What the heck. How bad can it possibly turn out?

Ha! Just read another forum where someone dry-hopped with 4oz (112g) Amarillo and it turned out horrible! I'll try not to repeat that mistake. The advice seems to be to combine it with another hop for balance, something more earthy/piney. Maybe I'll try that.

I think I'll see what it tastes like after a week or so in primary before making a final decision.

OK i've got some Hoppy Copper on the shelf ready to start but as this will only be my second brew, i want to experiment 'a little'. I've got some Light and Medium ME and some beer kit enhancer, and i'd also like to try adding my own hops but haven't a clue how or which to use. Can any of you experienced guys give me a shove in the right direction please.

I imagine East Kent Goldings would go very well with this kit.

Not sure on the amount mate never used it b4 but ill just put a full jar in when mixing the can up with water and dme

i would use about 30 to 40 grams of ekg thats whats roughly left in bag.put them in fv after 7days and leave

For another week or 2

If you have never used treacle before, then I would tread carefully. It leaves a very strong flavour in a brew!

If you go for a whole jar, I doubt that you would taste the EKG as they are quite a subtle hop IMO.
