Stout should be fine, mate. It's an enduring thing

Irish Fancy? I like them. Just never come within so much as sniffing distance of any.

Just put myself down for a sh!t load of new cages! Three doubles and three tripples. And a top of the range Hospital Cage too. Better part of €300.00, I think. Christ! That's gonna hurt!

God knows how or where I think I'll get the birds to go in them. Field of Dreams effort! Image

By the way; Someone recently suggested I try Roller or Spanish, for a singer. I you tubed them. Then saw a Fife. Tried that? Blow me if That wasn't the one my old dear had! So; A cock Fife is also now on my hit list 8)

We've really f**ked this f**king thread up, haven't we? Image

I still just can't get my head round this, ye know? WTF went on in the mind of the man who stood there, wiping his hands having just put a nice brew on. Then he thinks:

" Tell ye what? I reckon I'll tea bag this one with me giblets! That'll make a cracking pint! "

 There's just No f**king rhyme or reason to it! It's like me saying; " F**k it! I'll have Rosie sh!t in this one! That'll be just what it needs! "

:) see now that you mention 'Roller' I know for sure that was the first canary I had.I checked with the mate who gave me the bird.So it was a roller.Used to sing all day.I'll definitely get back into them at some stage. Was great when they breed having all the birds flying about.

And back to the brewing board lol after 2 weeks in the FV my stout was 1018 from 1044...I went ahead and bottled...half way through I realised this didn't sound right and when I checked the instructions is states it should be below 1014 for 3 days or more.I said feck it and bottled the rest. Each with a Coopers sugar cube.Thinking I'll end up with a weak (3.3-3.5%) sweet stout...that's if the bottles don't explode...and on that point, should I open the bottles to release some gas after a while if it's looking like they're heading that way?Feck I hate bottling!

:? I'm no good at all on all that stuff, mate. I don't bottle and I don't use a float. I just make my gear. Get amongst it and end up typing utter sh!t by mid evening. So, what ever I'm up to; It seems to work for me.

I'm sure ye've already given ye own reasons for not getting a BK. But, considering the drama ye having now? I'd question that situation. Ever feel like slipping over the border, I'll give ye a couple of BK's.

Cheers Ditch.

There's a few reasons I don't keg...I like to let it lay for months to mature a bit and if I did keg most of it would get wasted with me not drinking it all within a reasonable time.I did buy a keg from Wilko though with intentions of trying it out but still to get around to that.I'd need to get the CO2 top and bulbs before I do.

Might try that stout question on a new thread.Guessing someone has come across the issue before.

Have a Coopers Brewmaster Stout sitting out now. It's over a year past the best before date but should be grand with some new yeast.Gonna use your recipe method with some dark unrefined Muscovado sugar (says it's good for dark chocolate cakes and brownies :) )to see what turns out.Is there any yeast you'd recommend apart from Coopers as that's probably bit the bullet?

Coopers yeast is, to my mind, about the best there is. But, if ye need to replace it with what's available off the shelf? I'd always go with " Safale S-04 " Image
