I'm thinking £15 for a two can kit that comes out alright as a one can might be good - or is there a fundamental flaw in my plan?
It's commonly referred to as a toucan brew.

No fundamental flaws, just everything about the Hoppy Copper will be enhanced, like colour, hop and malt flavours and bitterness of course.

Give it a bash if you feel like it.

I was wondering where the reference to 'Toucan'came from . Cheers MB. Would you need extra fermentables?

I personally would add 500g of light DME to a brew like this to help balance the bitterness a bit.

If WM13 can find out what the bitterness of the Wilko single can kits are for us, we could make a more informed recipe choice

I stocked up in their Ashton under Lyne shop yesterday

Golden Ale
Delicate Pilsner
30 bottle Merlot
1kg brewing sugar
1kg BKE

£41

Any advice on tweaks for the Golden Ale or Pils?

I was in Wilkos this morning and see that they are now stocking 1.5 KG tins of LME .
I buy my grain & hops from here http://www.homebrewkent.co.uk/

The potential flaw in your plan is that one can contains al the hops that are needed for the brew so a two can like you suggest could be seriously over hopped. However, the Hoppy Copper is not very hoppy at all so you might well get away with it or even improve the standard brew.

For my second brew of this kit I added 68g of Fuggles in a 10 minute boil and this tastes fresher and has a little more bite than the standard brew.

If you give the two can version a go, let us know how it turns out.

Happy (hoppy?) brewing,

Ian.

tell em to open a wilkos in croydon now woollwoths gone you would get lots of customers and would love to walk into to town and get home brew stuff instead of having to drive to Sutton or Tescos and wait an extra day for the stuff

Tubs, there's a Wilko in Bromley. Nice range and decent stock levels every time I've been in. Not quite a walk, but not a huuge drive if you don't want to wait an extra day.

Nigel,
Any chance of Wilcos re introducing a 30 bottle red wine kit. The Munton 30 bottle, 5 litre red wine kit was awsome. sadly the 6 bottle red wine kits you have at present are not good at all

Hi philgb
I will pass your comments onto the buying team, I have not tried the Red wine kits only the elderflower and peach kits which both at the bottling point tasted very promising....

Is there likely to be a spectacular post christmas sale on the homebrew area?
