all newbies once only been doing it myself less than a year. Found after kit# 1 that one fv just not enough now got 2 fv, 3 pb and loads of homemade stuff like bottle rinser and dryer, fv holder for sink draining board( lets me pu fv onto draining board without it rolling about and at nice angle so i can blast rinse it and it drains straight to sink!) and other silly gizmos...all made so i could get stuff clean quickly to get next brew on!! Bloody addictive hobby

My first brew day was the coopers lager kit too, only a month or so ago so I'm just getting to do testers just now and it tastes fab.

I did the same thing, I was obsessed with watching it and ran downstairs each morning to check it.

I've just started the coopers dark ale... Will be bottling on Saturday.

Loving brewing.

Ooh that may be a wee experiment for the future.

I just did this one with the brew enhancer, figured I need to know what the basics taste like before I try to fiddle with it.

Probably wise. Beer enhancer is a roughly 50/50 mix of brewing sugar and dried spraymalt so your end result wont be too dis-similar to mine. Bloody lovely beer...all gone now though :(
I just love to fiddle I guess!! Next stop extract brewing..World domination can wait a while :D

I tested it last night and it is lovely, really pleased with it.

Used Brew Enhancer 2 cause the description sounded right for the kind of beer I like.

Oh I am so pleased and can't wait till Saturday to get it bottled. Like a kid waiting on Santa at Christmas.... want it now!

Just thought I would update this. I have now given up home brewing :(

Tried brewing 4 different things, Coopers Australian Lager, St Peters Ruby Red, Woodfordes Wherry and Coopers Real Ale.

Every single one of them turned out with that horrible home brew tang that has been discussed in other threads. I tried using bottled water, controlling temperature, different sterilisers etc etc but they all have the same twang which to me is undrinkable.

I thoroughly enjoyed the brewing process but at the end of the day if you cant drink it, whats the point.

I did consider the boil in a bag / all grain route but it just doesnt fit in with my routine at the minute.

Wish you all well with you're brewing.
