Brewferm Christmas

Post by BeerMan » Thu Aug 14, 2008 8:27 pm

Hi folks,

Has anyone tried the Brewferm Christmas kit? Mine's nearly ready to bottle, it fermented down in just two days!, but the instructions (how can they be wrong?) say it doesn't need ANY priming sugar.
Of course I'll follow the instructions  but if its finished fermenting how will it condition without more sugar?

Cheers.

What's the gravity of the kit now?

1026 seems to high to bottle, have you tried rousing with a sanitised spoon/paddle?
I did this kit last year, I think it got down to 1014 ish. (1002 seems very low, or was that a typo and meant to be 1020?)
I wondered about the priming too, but it really doesn't need any. I started opening mine (to prime)after a month in the bottles because I thought I'd cocked up by not priming, but then realised they were fairly carbonated. By Christmas they were amazing. Definately benefit from a long conditioning time, so try and leave most of em till Christmas if you can.

(edit:oops, you i misread it, you did say 1020)

If you put priming sugar in a bottle of 1026 beer, it would set off nuclear blast detection systems worldwide!
