Additional ABV in bottle

Just spent a morning bottling a much looked forward to Morgans kit. I was a bit disappointed to only get an FG of 1012 and wondered how much alcohol is added to a bottle after adding half a spoon of brewing sugar to a 500ml bottle.

Nothing really noticable, But what it does do is give the yeast something to chew on so your beer gets nice and gassy.

Oh well, BTW what on earth is Bulgarian lager ? I guess its been asked before but I missed it.

Seems it has had a name change and is now called Coopers Europeian Lager, My can said Bulgarian Lager on it and was red. I dont really mind what its called as long as it tastes good.
Got 3 more kits to get done and kegged then enough of the kits time to move to all grain so i can make beer I want to drink not something some one made for me to ferment.

What was the OG @ 20c?

OG was 1042 so I reckon it should be around 4% abv which is okay. I bought a second hydrometer just before I bottled and that gave a 1010 reading so I`m not sure which one is the truest of the two.
Next brew I`ll take a before and after reading with both rather than mix the readings.

JayBee; Try testing each of those Hydi's in a glass of plain tap water. That should sort out if one's off balance.

Yeah, good point Ditch. Could be a few weeks before I get another brew on though. Then again, hmmm, FV is all clean again and I`ve got Wednesday off so maybe............?
