Just drink your own urine and you should be pretty close.
Best wishes

TBH, its probably a waste of time even bothering with a Carling clone, I'd say its one of the few cases where buying a can from a shop works out about the same as it will for the homebrew. Just buy a few crates when on offer and save yourself some time.

Go to wilko and get geordie lager £7.99 and bag bke £4.99 .Leave it for a month or more if you can .Chill in fridge before serving. That'll work out about 32p per pint and I dont think supermarkets can do it that cheap. :D

hi
i am quite a fan of fizzy piss-water, and am working my way thru the various lager kits on market. i have done youngs brew buddy lager twice now and it's very good, but didn't want to be borring so trying others. tried geordie larger and found it had little taste, but was drinkable if ice cold. am now fermenting coopers which i am lookin forward to because ive been told it's a good one. youngs do a kit called difinative lager at wilco, but been put off by the price, think its only about 6.99. has anyone tried it ,is it any good , or is it a case of u get what u pay for
cheers
paul

cheers for the advice i know lager is regarded as the devils own piss on here but each to there own, i have a coopers euro bottled but i had a sly taste the other day and it was like pils which im not really a fan of so i think i might go with the geordie lager (even though im from sunderland)

there's nothing wrong with lager, it's just the swill that gets served by the hectolitre that tastes of nothing that I can't stand

there are some excellent lager kits on the market and if you look there are some very good lagers and pilsner available commercially.

ive tried a few real ales and i loved one called youngers no3 i think, more recently ive tried speckled hen which was canny and bishops finger which went straight down the sink, as did spitfire so to be honest i dont have a clue where to start and i dont fancy doing an ale only to find i dont like it :(

got the feeling your like me,can get away with certain ales but much prefer a nice lager,if so brew lager aint no shame in it,i can drink a bottle of ale but dont want 23 litres of the stuff, like chris said just get a cheap lager kit add bke or spray malt and your away mate,

You poured Spitfire and Bishops finger down the drain ? Well like you say each to there own. I'm drinking a Coopers traditional draught at the moment its very nice ,a bit larger like, or similar to one of those American style beers. I think you might like it.

I've got one of therse conditioning at the moment, I'll let you know how it goes... Might take a little while though, I only bottled it a couple of weeks ago... I was confused by the price, its from their "definitive" range, suggesting its better than the others, yet its 3 quid cheaper than the standard range...

I have the same problem... I'll happily drink an ale, but with lager I know where I am. Its like an old friend I can relax with, whereas ale is like my snotty cousin who I only see once a year 'cos he's too much to cope with.
