Anyone done the Heart of England beer kits?
Anyone done the Heart of England beer kits?
Anyone done any of the Heart of England beer kits from the Hamstead Brewing Centre?
http://www.hamstead-brewing-centre.co.uk/itmidx11.htm
They sell the Heart of England Bitter + 1.6kg can of amber malt extract for just £12.50 which seems excellent value.
Are these kits produced by York Brewery like the Terrier and Stonewall kits?

Re: Anyone done the Heart of England beer kits?
I haven't, but they do look worth a bash, and as you said! they do look a nice price, but what is the P+P cost on them?

Re: Anyone done the Heart of England beer kits?
According to their website, carriage is £6.50 to most places in the UK.
Re: Anyone done the Heart of England beer kits?
Don't think so. In any event, apparently all the malt extract kits in the UK are produced by Muntons in Stowmarket.xpers wrote: Are these kits produced by York Brewery like the Terrier and Stonewall kits?

The York Brewery kits are one can of malt extract, a bag of spraymalt and a packet of hops.xpers wrote: Are the York Brewery Terrier and Stonewall kits dry kits then?

There was a topic on Jim's Forum a couple of months back and one poster said that he had received an email from a guy at the York Brewery who confirmed that their kits are produced by Muntons to their recipe.
Muntons have a large canning facility at Stowmarket and that's probably why they have a monoply on malt extract production in cans.
Re: Anyone done the Heart of England beer kits?
Thanks for pointing that out. It is quite misleading then as on the Terrier and Stonewall product pages they state the kits are produced by York Brewery...Lillywhite wrote:The York Brewery kits are one can of malt extract, a bag of spraymalt and a packet of hops.xpers wrote: Are the York Brewery Terrier and Stonewall kits dry kits then?![]()

Has anyone done the cheaper Heart of England beer kits???
Re: Anyone done the Heart of England beer kits?
Just the same as all the Young's branded stuff which is made by other people. All they seem to be is a wholesaler that supplies brewing equipment/ingredients to Wilkos and many Home Brew Shops. Milestone kits now made by Muntons.xpers wrote: Thanks for pointing that out. Hi Xpers, i did a couple of the Great Barr bitter kits last year-1st one stuck at 1020 but was kegged anyway and left to mature for a few weeks, turned out to be one of my better attempts according to my notes. The second one i brewed adding a handful of Goldings and again got good results-well worth trying IMO
