Re: Milestone Black Pearl w/ Picture
May sound odd as it's my first stout kit but disapointing, don't get me wrong it's not a bad pint and is getting better with age but before I can def say I think i'd have to make a ditch's stout to compare it with!

Re: Milestone Black Pearl w/ Picture
Your pint looks very good.
I recently brewed up the Black Pearl Stout, left it for 8 weeks to mature, opened a bottle last night for the first taste and would have to say I was a little disappointed. Like you said, its not a bad pint but I was looking for a bit more body and taste to it. I'll still drink it all with much pleasure that being said.
When I was making up the brew I got distracted when I was filling up the fermentor and made the kit to 25/26 litres when really I wanted it at 20. This could be part of my issue with the stout.
I notice in your pic that the head on your pint it impressive whereas mine doesn't even pour a head
Ahwell... live and learn.
So I went to my computer with the pint in hand and ordered a ditch's stout.
This will be my next brew without fail.

Re: Milestone Black Pearl w/ Picture
mine was made up to 23lt and I think it does lack body the only reason i've got a decent head is a king keg. Pours out like a foam fountain!
Re: Milestone Black Pearl w/ Picture
I'm wondering.... did anyone think to use beer kit enhancer when making their Black Pearl? That should give it more body and a better head. Just an thought.

Re: Milestone Black Pearl w/ Picture
No as it's a 3 kg kit, to be honest even if u added extract it still isn't a brilliant stout, not enough of that burnt flavor you get with say Guinness, best comparison I can give it's a bit like the murphys!
