Just bought myself a keg to save me all the hassle of bottling. I'm fairly new to this, can anyone tell me how long I can keep a beer in the keg before it goes off? I get the impression from reading some of the other posts that beer seems to keep longer in a bottle. Not sure if this is true, or why it would be true. Can anyone enlighten me?
PS the kit I intend to keg is Scammonden dark.
How long in keg?

Hi Jymbo, a keg is a great purchase - you'll find it so much easier than bottling
Beer does last longer in bottles, but having said that ordinary gravity beers can last for months in the keg. I've made a 1040 beer which I finished 5 months after I made it and it still tasted great. I've also tried some high gravity beers (made by someone else) from a king keg and they were well over a year old, and were absolutely superb.
