20 pint Kits!!

Post by Old Jake » Mon Jan 29, 2007 9:52 am

Do such things exist?

Or if I bought one of the more expensive kits, could I just use one of the cans and make it up to 20 pints? Would it still work?

cheers

I bought a kit of Firkin Dogbolter that was for 20 pints. The kits do exisit and are probably some of the stronger beers....

I quite enjoyed the dogbolter when I made it - expensive for the amount though. Think it was about £12 (was a few years ago mind...)

Probably not what you're after though ? Sounds very strong...

Cheers guys!

Presumably though, I don't add any additional sugar (or spray malt) as there's enough in the mix already!

It all depends on what method you use. If you buy a kit that has 2 cans then it is unlikely you will need to add sugar as the second can is basically replacing the need to add sugar (IIRC). If you are buying a kit designed to make 24 pints then you will probably need to add extra sugar. All the requirements will be included so you can make a judgement call.

I think Brewferm do smaller quantity kits and I think Wooforde's Headcracker? is too. they are all quite strong beers. I was thinking of doing one of these to bottle and "lay down".

Yes, I was referring to a two can kit that makes 40 pints. I think you answered my question in that I would only use one can and no additional sugar.

cheers

Brupaks make these 10 litre kits for use in their 'brubox', but there's no reason why you could not make them in a standard fermenting bin:

Sorry for the long link
