Coopers Aussy Lager - Too Clear Too Soon ?!?

Post by turbomad2b » Wed Jan 13, 2010 12:30 pm

Im currently brewing Coopers Australian Lager which i have kegged & bottled for SF.
(This is only my third brew which is why i am still brewing lager)

I left this one 8 days in primary fermentation but when i kegged & bottled i noticed the lager was crystal clear, where as my other 2 previous lagers were cloudy during this stage.

It has been in SF at 22 degrees room temp for 8 days so i took a 'shot glass worth' from the barrell, it was obviously still crystal clear, it had some fizz, a little head, and it had a STRONG alcohol taste, surely this cant be right ?! Any ideas ?!

Hello. I've just done the European Coopers lager (comes with a lager yeast though) and this cleared in the bottle in 4 days, at 21 degrees. think your kit comes with an ale yeast . If it has cleared this fast can't be a bad think I reckon.

so seems its ok then ?!? Thanks.

Hopefully the strong alcohol taste will die down a bit in time.

Nothing to worry about. I bottled mine straight after primary and it was clear in 3 days.

Turbo,

The Coopers Aussie Lager gets better the longer you leave it! First beer I tried a month after making it was good...2 months was even better. Seriously much better and more refreshing the longer you leave it...if you have the willpower.
