Morning
Currently got a batch of Muntons Gold Old Smugglers on the go. It been in the FV for 3 and a half weeks now as it got stuck around the 1020 mark, the beer temperature has been constant at 20 deg and I have been stirring it to get it down for the last week or so. Currently it's around 1016 - 1017, unfortunately when I took the lid off this morning I had an opaque film on top (which I have had before when I had another stick fermentation and actually threw the beer away). I'd rather get it in a keg, rather than keep opening up the FV regularly to keep stirring and risking getting an infection.
My question is, what happens if you do not let the beer fully ferment out to 1014 or whatever?
Thanks for your help as always.
What happen if I keg too early?
Re: What happen if I keg too early?
Hi,
I think it would be fine if you are kegging, I would not bottle this as you run the risk of exploding bottles. I would add the priming sugar into the keg leave it in the warm for 7-10 days and the extra sugar might help start the ferment again and get it at the required gravity level.

Thanks Scott
I'm just going to keg it and forget about it for a bit. To be honest I'm getting a little sick of kits sticking. At the end of the day 20 quid is not the sort of money I want to be chucking down the drain! Wish they could all be like the St Peter's kit that I did recently, no issues with stick fermentations and it also cleared like a dream. Consequently it is all gone!

Wise decision. Forget about it for 6-9 weeks.JayM72 wrote:
