Corny Keg CO2

Post by Richamp » Thu Feb 25, 2010 9:12 pm

Hi, I'm new to home brewing and suspect this question has been asked before but I can't find it so here goes,

I've just bought a Corny Keg and filled it with clear Brew Buddy Lager. It comes out quickly but with no gas in it.

Any idea how many of the little gas bottles I need to use to liven it up or should I just take the top off and bung some sugar in?

Many thanks to those that take the time to reply.

Force conditioning takes time and a cold temperature. Get the cornie as close to 0 deg C as you can and gas up to 20 - 30 psi (if you have the means to measure the pressure) and leave for a week or two, then serve at a lower pressure to make sure you don't get a pint of froth.

Read the guide to cornies on the home page, it's a very useful begginers guide and tells you the basics you need to know. Of course there will still always be things that trip you up like over filling and having beer spray out of the Gas in! Or the situation I now find myself in, both Widget World CO2 cannisters are empty and I cant get to my HBS in Worthing to exchange them = no beer and I cant keg my wherry :(
