I have a kingkeg top tap pressure barrel (and a standard bottom tap type).
Now i dont yet have bottling facilities (new to this) so i feed off the barrel.
The problem i have is the tap sticks and is hard to control on the keg so its hard to pour very slowly. I usually end up with a pint of froth.
Does anyone have a trick in which i can avoid this problem and get a pint of beer?
too much froth.....
Re: too much froth.....
Friend of mine uses a turkey baster which he push-fits onto his tap. Slows down the flow and fills the glass from the bottom. Never tried this myself as I always bottle, but may be an inexpensive solution...
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: too much froth.....
Take the tap apart next time the keg is empty and lube it up with some vaseline, check how it works first and make sure you won't get vaseline in contact with the beer, basically I tend to use it up around the top of the threads. This makes the tap work easier, the next thing to do then is to cut about an 25cm section of garden hose and heat one end of it and connect it to the end of the tap. It works the same as the turkey baster but is easier to get your hands on.
