Cooper's Aussie Pale Ale

Post by At. Ailbhe's Brewery » Sat Feb 27, 2010 11:57 am

Bottled this last night, and in the process I had a quick, sneaky sup. I was very impressed, it appears to have the makings of a wonderful, light summer pint. Beautiful colour too, nearly lighter than lager even.

What are your experiences with it? When will it come into it's own? It'll be hard to keep my mits off this one, I'll hafta bury it! :D

Sampled a Cooper's Real Ale last night too, 5 wks in the bottle. It's starting to come 'round, will be a decent quaffer I reckon.

I make this regularly and just happen to have bottled a batch yesterday too.

A personal favourite of mine (along with Ditch's stout) and all i really used to drink was lager. This ale is great for lager drinkers and actually better in my opinion, it's light, very drinkable, colour is just slightly darker than lager, i'd take a pint of this over a pint of lager any day of the week now.

It's a lovely pint for the summer right enough but i drink it all year round.

Leave it 6 weeks if you can(you can do it!) :D , you wont be dissapointed with this and i guarantee you'll be making it again, probably before you've finished drinking your current batch.

I've made a few of these now and one day will leave for 5 weeks before drinking :^o I've just opened a bottle I did 6 days ago for a sample and it has carbonated fine. I did only make 20 litres of it so it is slightly stronger than the last batch i made of 22 litres. Another Coopers that I have got fermenting after trying last month is coopers mexican cervesa which was a great tasting lager, I made 21 litres of this and was just right.

I've got a tin of this in my box of brewing stuff ready to be my next brew. I drank quite a lot of it when I spent a year 'down under' so it will be interesting to see how it compares. Actually one of my local pubs serves bottles of it so might have to do a direct comparison!

Thanks lads, it really does look the business. The colour is spectacular. I bottled one in clear glass just to see how it's clearing (keeping it in the dark of course!).

I can manage six weeks!

No, really, I can...

Hi!

This is one of my personal fav's too...

A great light ale for summer or for anytime you have a thirst on... :)

I have a few of these which I plan to brew in April ready for the summer BBQ season... In the meantime my planned extract Summer Lightning will be conditioning :)

I find that it is best after 4-8 weeks ( 10 days in a nice warm room then a the remaining time in a cooler place - 12-15C or so is ideal)

I'm going to add some hop tea to my next one as an experiment, however I think its hard to beat when made as directed ( 1kilo BKE) But being a lover of hops and hoppy aroma I 'm keen to see how this affects this brew:)

If you could get your hands on http://www.homebrewwest.ie/pride-of-ringwood-824-p.asp Pride of Ringwood is the hop that they use for finishing the Coopers so those tea bags would be great in the homebrew kit. I find the main difference between the kits and the bottles is the lack of the fruity finishing hop in the homebrew, which makes the commercial version a whole lot better.
Not sure where you'd find them with a local suppliers.
